Have Your Considered my Servant_____________?

Have you considered my servant (put your name in the blank)?

Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on the earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. “Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. “But stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.” Then the Lord said to Satan. “Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.” Job 1:8-12

Ladies-The book of Job takes us into heaven’s court room and allows us to listen to a spiritual conversation that is taking place between God and Satan. In this conversation, God offers Job up to Satan to be tested. Our key scriptures outline how the invisible realm plays a role in our lives. These scriptures also help us to see how God’s ways are far above our own. If you venture to read this entire book (which I highly recommend) then you will also see God’s control.

Let's talk, are any of you currently suffering?
Do these scriptures make you look at your situation differently?
Do you think your suffering is deserved?
Have you considered that God may be allowing you to be tested?

Consider Apostle Peter's thoughts about suffering:

I Peter 3:17 It is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.

Job’s story has taught me life’s suffering from a different standpoint. I believe this book and many other verses that deal with suffering was recorded so that we can have some insight into the human experience from a wider context. This spiritual conversation between God and Satan opens our eyes to the reality of God’s presence pertaining to everything about our lives. When you believe that God is in control, then, you trust His will for your life and believe that He knows what is best. Otherwise, you may think suffering is cruel and unjust or perhaps even blame yourself and think you are getting punished as a result of erroneous behavior. I’m grateful we have the bible and Job’s story to help us see things from heaven's vantage point.

I understand some of you may not be currently suffering or you cannot relate to Job’s test, then let me share some wisdom with you for your future days. Ecclesiastes 9:12 says, “Man does not know his time. Like fish that are taken in an evil net, and like birds that are caught in a snare, so the children of man are snared at an evil time, when it suddenly falls upon them.”

Suffering is a part of life’s cycles and the best way to prepare yourself is to be certain you have built your trust in God, just like Job. Walking daily with God is your best security blanket. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to begin to draw closer to Him by letting Him into every area of your life today.

Father, I pray we can learn from Job’s story and see Your sovereign hand in our own story. Father I pray for my sister who may be suffering. Lord help her to see that You are using this situation to grow her. I also pray that we all draw closer to You and build our hope and trust in You alone, in Jesus name, amen.
