Facing Famine

At that time a severe famine struck the land of Canaan, forcing Abram to go down to Egypt, where he lived as a foreigner. Genesis 12:10

Sarai is walking by faith following Abram and just when she starts to make a new life in her new land a severe famine struck. God has called her into a deeper level of faith. The bible doesn't tell us if Sarai was kicking and screaming because she had to get up once again and move. It doesn't tell us about the conversation I'm sure she had with Abram about first leaving her home, moving again and to make things worst they were leaving because things ran out.

As we follow our coach we will face the highs of this life and the lows. Our circumstances will be good and sometimes unbearable.

Sisters, what can we do when the famine strikes?
1. I hope we choose to face forward
2. Accept our circumstances
3. Trust in the Lord
4. And put our hope for the future in His hands.

This is the decision Sarai made that day following Abram. And now, God has credited this decision to her and she is mentioned later in the bible in a place of honer in God's Hall of Faith. (Hebrews chapter 11) I pray we will have Sarai’s faith when we have to face a famine, too.

2 Corinthians 5:7 "For we walk by faith, not by sight."

Father, I pray we have Sarai’s faith when life is tough or throws us a curve. I pray we can always find Your good in the bad and the faith we need to have following You. Lord, I pray for my sister who may be facing a famine. Father, meet her in that place and give her the courage to face forward, the faith to help her accept her circumstance and the faith to trust You with her future. Lord, thanks again for ordering our steps. We know you use every situation to draw us closer to you. In Jesus name I pray, Amen
