The Virtuous Wife
Her husband has full
confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm all the days of her life. Proverbs 31:11-12
He who finds a Wife
finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord. Proverbs 18:22
An excellent Wife is
the crown for her husband…Proverbs 12:4
Houses and wealth are
inherited from parents, but a Prudent Wife is from the Lord. Proverbs 19:14
The Lord God said, “It
is not good for the man to be alone. I
will make a Helper suitable for him.” Genesis 2:18
Ladies-you are a gift to your husband from the Lord!
You are on an assignment from God to help him. You are to
share his responsibilities, to respond to his nature, you should willfully
cooperate with him in God’s plan for your life together, and be subject to him.
Likewise Wives, be
subject to your own husbands so that, even if any are disobedient to the Word,
they will be won over without the Word by the conduct of the Wives. I Peter 3:1
(the Word is the Bible)
Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. Ephesians 5:22
Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. Ephesians 5:22
In this way Ladies you are loving your husband the way
Christ loves us. You are willfully making a decision to love regardless of how
he loves you. Christ willfully chooses to love us regardless of how messed up
we may be. Love is not just a feeling it
is a decision we make and an action we take.
This is how you bring your husband good all the days of your life, you decide to love him as Christ loves you.
The more you fall in love with Christ our Savior, the easier it is to love others more than
yourself. The Virtuous Wife understands this love and
her character reflects what she learns through her intimate relationship with
Christ.
This is how we know
what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our
brothers (our spouses). I John 3:16
I encourage you to spend some time studying scriptures about
God’s love for us and how He showed His love for us. I encourage you to pray for Him to show you ways you can serve the people in your
life, especially your spouse. Make a commitment
to help your husband. Focus on your husband, periodically ask yourself are you
putting him before yourself. Be mindful of your actions and constantly ask
yourself will your actions help or hinder your spouse. Remember, this isn’t the
measuring stick for how to be as the Virtuous Woman but, the goal towards which
we should be moving.
Father, thank you for loving us before we even knew to love
you back. Thank you for sending Jesus to
show us how to love others. Father,
thank you for my sister wives who are learning every day to love like
Christ. Father thank you for deciding we
would be wives and great helpers to our spouse.
In Jesus Name Amen.
